MEET OUR 2020 SPEAKERS
Matteo is an unconventional entrepreneur and a book author with two decades of experience in Financial Services. For Three years in a row (2014-2016), Financial News has nominated Matteo as one of the “40 most influential FinTech executives in Europe”.
In 2008 he cofounded Innotribe, the innovation arm of SWIFT, where Matteo worked for 13 years. He also launched the Innotribe Startup Challenge, the first global deal flow of its kind. He left SWIFT in 2013.
From 2013 until 2015, Matteo was a Partner in SBT Venture Capital, one of the first funds (100M USD) solely dedicated to FinTech investment (Series A), building a portfolio of 12 startups.
In 2015, Matteo created and cofounded www.FinTechStage.com,
a platform for Investors, Innovators and start-ups to foster FinTech innovation globally, with some 50+ missions and events all over the world. Through it, Matteo founded the Timepledge.org iniciative, a global program helping African entrepreneurs in several domains of their businesses, from product to strategy to channels management to investors pitching.
He is the author or The FinTech Revolution (EGEAN, 2016, ITA) and of Talent&Rebels (HOEPLI, 2019, ENG and ITA).
Recently, Matteo took the position of Executive Producer of Breaking Banks Europe (a spin-off of Breaking Banks US) available on Soundcloud, iTunes, Spotify and Google Play.
Matteo lives in Estoril (Portugal) speaks five languages, holds
a University degree in Computer Science (University of Genova) and a Postgraduate in Financial Transactions (Solvay Business School).
Navin has extensive experience in global transaction banking, payments and cash management, and strategy planning following nearly two decades working for HSBC and Citigroup across the U.S., Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and India. During his tenure as Head of Payments and Cash Management for HSBC Japan, the business was transformed and voted the #1 Cash Management Bank in Japan by Euromoney. He was also a chief architect of HSBC’s global initiative on Working Capital and Liquidity Management and in 2008 was recognized as one of "The 50 Most Promising Young Leaders" in Asia-Pac by The Asian Banker. Prior to joining HSBC, Navin worked at Citigroup in San Francisco as a global relationship manager for technology, media and telecommunications clients. He joined Citigroup as a management associate shortly after graduating from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona. Navin is a former board member of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Navin currently lives in Mumbai with his wife and two children, and is an Art of Living teacher.
Theodora (Theo) Lau is public speaker, writer, podcast host, and startup advisor, whose work seeks to spark innovation to improve consumer financial well-being. As founder of Unconventional Ventures, she focuses on developing and growing an ecosystem of financial institutions, corporates, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists to better address the unmet needs of consumers (e.g. older adults and gig economy workers), with keen interests in women and minority founders. As part of her work, she regularly mentors and advises FinTech startups. She is recognized as LinkedIn Top Voice for Economy and Finance, No. 1 Women in Finance by Onalytica, and Top FinTech influencer by various publications including Fintech Power 50, Retail Banker International, FinTech Finance, and FinTech News Switzerland. She co-hosts Rhetoriq, a podcast on longevity and global fintech innovations, and runs a weekly blog on Irish Tech News. She is a speaker for top industry conferences, and frequent contributing writer for industry publications, including Harvard Business Review and Nikkei Asian Review.
Devie Mohan is an influential writer, speaker and commentator on fintech, and is the co-founder and CEO of Burnmark, a fintech research company, that supplies research and data to all players of the fintech ecosystem. Devie has helped several banks, fintech startups, innovation groups and investors understand the trends in the fintech industry, helping them set their corporate, marketing and investment strategies. She is also a proponent of a fintech ecosystem where banks and startups collaborate to drive innovation. She is a panel member on the ING Group Think Forward initiative on better financial decision making. She is the author of “The Financial Services Guide to Fintech” and a columnist with several publications. She is actively involved in the fintech community and has been listed in the top 10 of several global fintech influencer lists.
